i agree that guys do commit the mistakes mentioned here. even i do it sometimes. it is better to stop texting a girl for a while than having useless topics to talk about. this will ensure that u'll always have topics to talk to her whenever u text. second thing, this will also add mystery, suspense, and intrigue to ur friendship with that girl which is much essential.

As a girl, I'm going to share a few thoughts from our side of this crazy dating game, for what it's worth. :)

Texting is nice, yes. It can be a great way to get to know someone in a low-commitment environment. But to those of us who aren't major texters, it can also be too much when a guy overdoes it (or vice-versa). It feels almost suffocating when a guy you barely know (or perhaps haven't met yet, if it's online dating) is texting you every day, sending "good morning" and "good night" messages when you've barely gotten to know each other. I think there's a natural progression to things, and a lot of girls do like that. It doesn't feel rushed. It doesn't feel too pressured. Just natural. I think it also gives an air of mystery about it...we have to earn your interest a little bit. If a guy you're only getting to know constantly flings compliments left and right, texts you all the time, and makes it overly clear that he's smitten, it CAN feel a little too much too fast. I usually look for the nearest exit when that happens, to be honest, because I feel that he's looking for an instant girlfriend and NOT something meaningful built on trust, natural progression (getting to know each other first), and mutual respect. It almost feels like he doesn't want to take the time to know you first, but that he does want a girlfriend on his arm ASAP...and then you wonder if it's just ANY girl he'd gladly put in your place if you walked away.
And of course, this can also go for girls doing this to guys as well. It's interchangeable.

Learning how to talk to girls using text is a very simple concept. We gotta keep in mind that girls love to text and you'll always see them doing it on their free time. I've found that after you've slept with them that they're extremely responsive to your text if you f'ckd the sh!t outta them. They're gonna be texting you and making sure that they're relevant in your mind.

Loved the article. I just broke up with my gf and am still trying to adjust to being single (apparently I suck at texting). I have definitely been guilty of over-texting and texting too quickly and am only now figuring out why those girls stopped returning my texts. Also, I recently read an awesome article (http://www.daveglenn.com/2012/01/daves-guide-to-texting/) about using smiley faces and smiley face winks in my texts, but I was hoping to get a second opinion. To me they come off as unmasculine, and I don't see how any girl could find that attractive. Thoughts?
